Vallejo Mecha Color is a water-based acrylic range created specifically for robots, Gundam-style kits, Transformers and Gunpla, with one clear goal: give you a finish that looks clean on a display piece, but also holds up when the kit gets handled (posing, swapping parts, articulation). It dries into a smooth satin surface that keeps sharp detail visible, while offering exceptional adhesion even on trickier plastics and a level of resistance made for real-world building—friction, small scratches, and everyday manipulation.
Mecha Color is built primarily for airbrush work: you can spray it straight from the bottle, or fine-tune the flow with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner or Flow Improver. Vallejo’s own guideline for airbrushing sits around 15–20 PSI, and for maintenance they recommend using Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner. It can also be applied by brush for touch-ups and smaller areas when you want maximum control.
The range goes beyond “just colors”: it includes primers, dedicated varnishes, and tones made for aging/weathering effects, so you can stay inside one consistent system from basecoat to finishing. For best durability, Vallejo recommends working in several light layers over a primed surface, letting it set into a uniform, tough coat after drying. Mecha Color is non-flammable and solvent-free.
Packaging: Mecha Color paints come in 18 ml dropper bottles; Mecha Primers and Mecha Varnishes are also available in larger formats (60 ml / 200 ml).
