The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is the central mobile suit of Mobile Suit Unicorn Gundam, a Universal Century story set in UC 0096. Developed by Anaheim Electronics as part of the Earth Federation's secretive UC Project, the Unicorn is a prototype full Psycho-Frame mobile suit designed by Hajime Katoki and piloted by civilian-turned-pilot Banagher Links during the hunt for Laplace's Box. The Full Armor configuration was conceived aboard the Nahel Argama for the final battle against Neo Zeon, loading the Unicorn with every available weapon and two massive external booster pods. Despite the "Full Armor" designation, this variant carries no additional armor — just an overwhelming amount of firepower.
This kit is a Red Color variant of the earlier HGUC -178- RX-0 Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode) , which featured green Psycho-Frame parts from the final battle. Released in June 2016 to coincide with Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 — the television recut of the OVA — this version swaps the green clear parts for red translucent Psycho-Frame, matching the Unicorn's standard Destroy Mode appearance throughout most of the series. It also adds the Hyper Beam Javelin, a weapon exclusive to this release among HGUC Unicorn variants, along with new RE:0096 marking stickers designed by Hajime Katoki. The white plastic across the kit carries a subtle red tinge, and Tetoron foil stickers placed behind the clear Psycho-Frame parts recreate the distinctive inner glow of the active frame.
Articulation covers the essentials: ball-joint neck, rotating upper arms, 90-degree bends at both elbow and knee, pivoting front and side skirt armor, and a ball-and-socket waist joint. That said, this is the most heavily loaded HGUC Unicorn variant, and all that equipment does limit posability — rear skirt armor restricts backward hip movement, and the sheer bulk of the Full Armor attachment makes dynamic posing a challenge. The Full Armor frame itself is removable, and the Beam Magnum can mount on the arms or the backpack. Beam Saber hilts detach from the backpack for handheld use, and the Hyper Beam Javelin can be displayed in storage or deployed mode, with the javelin head removable to form a double-bladed configuration. Three dedicated display pedestals let you pose the shield and Gatling Gun units in a flight formation alongside the main suit. Hand options include a weapon-holding pair, a trigger-finger right hand, and saber-holding hands. Color separation is decent for an HG kit, though stickers handle most of the Psycho-Frame and marking detail.
