From Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, the MSN-00100 Hyaku-Shiki is a prototype mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics for the Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) during the Gryps Conflict. Originally conceived as the transformable MSN-001 Delta Gundam, frame failures forced a redesign into the non-transformable Hyaku-Shiki. Piloted by Quattro Bajeena — better known as Char Aznable, Zeon's legendary "Red Comet" — it traded heavy armor for speed and agility. Its distinctive gold finish comes from an experimental anti-beam coating, and the visor houses a unique Image Directive Encode (IDE) sensor that displays red scanning patterns during precision aiming. The name means "Type 100" in Japanese, reflecting designer Dr. M. Nagano's confidence that the machine could serve for a century.
This kit is the Revive version of the Hyaku-Shiki, and it also happens to be the 200th release in the High Grade Universal Century line — a milestone Bandai chose to mark with one of the franchise's most recognizable machines. The original HGUC came out in 1999, and seventeen years of engineering progress made a full redesign long overdue. Unlike the older kit, this version doesn't use chrome electroplating — instead, the armor is molded in brighter metallic-effect plastic using Undergate technology. That's actually a win for builders, since it means you can paint, weather, and apply waterslide decals without worrying about plating issues. If you want to go further up in scale, there's the MG Hyaku-Shiki Ver. 2.0 at 1/100, and a Gundam Base exclusive Gold Coating version of this same kit exists for collectors chasing that extra shine.
Articulation is where this Revive really earns its keep. Double-jointed elbows and knees, a see-saw hip joint, and shoulder joints that swing forward give you a wide range of dynamic poses. The wing binders on the backpack sit on ball joints, so they move independently for added expressiveness. The BR-M-87 Beam Rifle stores on the backpack alongside the AE/ZIM.C-BAZ-531 300mm Clay Bazooka, which has a folding handle for handheld use. Two beam sabers store in racks on the rear waist armor and can be detached as hilts. A nice detail: the kit includes three different foil sticker options for the camera eye — standard visor, red eyes, and the IDE scanning mode — so you get to choose how the head looks on display. Color correction and marking stickers round out the package.
